After a two-year hiatus, BIG Partnership’s BIG Summer Away Day made a welcome come back – and if we say so ourselves, it was worth the wait.
On Friday 29 July, the entire BIG team from our offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Manchester gathered at the Macdonald Crutherland Hotel for an overdue catch-up.
The day kicked off with a short introduction from CEO, Allan Barr, before teams were pitted against each other in a seriously tense team-building contest, hosted by Team Challenge. For the next two hours, 10 teams fought it out over a series of activities which challenged our creativity, our ability to problem solve and in some cases our dance skills.
After an energetic, and fierce, but also productive team-building session, everyone understandably needed some refreshments and a well-deserved rest to catch their breath. Whilst we waited on the food to arrive the fun didn’t stop as we played our own, in-house version of Bongo’s Bingo hosted by the fantastic Kyle Yeats. The game was filled with challenges with the four offices going head-to-head to see who could hula-hoop for the longest, who had the best runway strut and, of course, a dance challenge or two.
Once the games were over, everyone settled down to enjoy the good weather and amazing BBQ put on by Macdonald Crutherland Hotel along with some live entertainment from singer David James.
There is a long-held saying at our agency that ‘BIG is about the people,’ and the away day served as another reminder of just that. It was a day full of energy, great laughs (and questionable dance moves,) but importantly it gave the team a chance to get together outside of the boardroom and celebrate the fantastic results from the first part of the year. Ideas were shared, creativity encouraged, and new friendships made. All in all, a roaring BIG success.
Finally, we would just like to say a huge thank you to HR Manager, Leanne Brown, and Office Manager, Kayleigh Irvine for organising such a fantastic day. Also, thank you to Team Challenge for keeping us on our toes and hosting the team-building activities and thank you to Macdonald Crutherland Hotel for hosting the event and providing sterling food and drinks service as well as assisting on the day with the event set-up.
