John Quincy Adams said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” This quote very much sums up my experience during my placement at the BIG Partnership. Thank you to the exceptional team who inspired me to dream more, do more and become more through their exceptional individual personalities, great smiles, warmth and extraordinary support. Despite the fast-paced agency environment, I was able to quickly adjust to the requirements of the job because I was surrounded by a very supportive team who accommodated my numerous questions and left no stone unturned in overcoming the challenges of settling in.
Getting the news of my placement offer at BIG Partnership came with mixed feelings. On the one hand, it was a dream come true as I was excited to work in one of the country’s biggest PR agencies. On the other hand, I was very nervous and didn’t know if I would meet the high expectations of the company. My fears were quickly allayed on the first day when I was welcomed so warmly. I was in for many more pleasant surprises as I realised I was part of one of the best teams in the business! The work ethics, professionalism and creativity, all in a fun and warm environment made it so easy.
These four weeks have been a learning and growth curve for me in more ways than I could have imagined. I have not only taken huge steps in my career growth, but I have also experienced profound personal growth. I have learned to work well within a team, share my ideas more confidently, take on challenges head-on, sharpen my copywriting and research skills, and interface with clients. I particularly enjoyed the team brainstorming sessions, client meetings, writing a thought-leadership piece, producing social media content, attending a lunch and learn session on writing press releases for financial accounts and one on SEO. Thanks to the extremely kind and supportive corporate/consumer team and the entire BIG Aberdeen team, I am leaving better than I came!
As I draw the curtains on my four-week professional industry experience today, I would like to express my profound gratitude to the Aberdeen team for making my experience an amazing one, filled with great and unforgettable memories. Thank you for the chats and laughter during lunch and at the BIG Bar. It’s been four weeks of great fun, impact, and growth!
